Fabulous Fermentation: Beyond Sauerkraut (All NEW ferments) – Sunday 10 August 2025
Willunga
11.00am – 3.00pm
Are you keen to understand all the excitement about gut health and why it's important for you?
Have you always wanted to make your own fermented foods, but not quite sure how to get started at home?
In this ALL NEW hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the latest research about how gut health influences every imaginable aspect of your health and mood, introduce you to the science of fermenting, and then you’ll you’ll make three fabulous new ferments, using produce sourced exclusively from the Fleurieu Peninsula.
This new workshop is suitable for everyone (newbies and advanced fermenters alike), and instead of learning to make sauerkraut, you’ll create:
Sweet Heat Elixir: A raw honey ferment with garlic, red onion, chillies and rosemary designed to add some razzle-dazzle to your meals and keep you in deliciously good health all winter long.
Cultured Chaos: A lacto-fermented, blended seasonal salsa inspired by everything that’s good in the garden that week and my recent fermentation immersion experience at The Agrarian Kitchen.
Steeped Secrets! I’m keeping this one up my sleeve as a little surprise. 🤩 Just know that it will be a very cool combo of winter veg that will add colour, flavour and lots of beneficial bugs to your winter meals.
After you’ve created your three fabulous jars of ferments, we’ll sit down to a deliciously nourishing long lunch featuring local Fleurieu Peninsula producers, where we’ll continue to chat about gut health and how to weave your new ferments (as well as other prebiotic and probiotic-rich foods) into your daily eating for better health.
Your workshop includes:
discussion of current research on gut health and its influence on your overall health and wellbeing
lots of opportunities to chat and ask questions about fermenting and how to eat for a happy, healthy gut
hands-on fermenting experience where you will make and take home x3 different jars of ferments
printed copy of all recipes and notes to take home
shared gut-friendly lunch with a glass of local wine, or delicious NON wine alternative.
